Supporting Japan-related programs in European Capitals of Culture

bonsai demnstration by Takuya Suzuki

Nitra, Slovakia

Traditional Culture

International bonsai, tea and suiseki 4-day festival Bonsai Slovakia belongs with its manifoldness and scale to very singular events organised in Slovakia, linking extensive bonsai exhibition and non-stop cultural program. 40.000 visitors crossed gates of 19th year of Bonsai Slovakia this year.

A special mention must be given to the young Japanese bonsai master Takuya Suzuki and energetic tsugaru shamisen player Keisho Ohno. Audience also had a chance to compare 15 types of traditional matcha, followed by the performance of bartenders who turned matcha into high class cocktails. What a combination of art and modernity, traditions and youth.

As Bonsai Slovakia belongs to the biggest bonsai exhibitions in Europe, it strives to remain a platform bringing cultures together, create friendships and deliver that much needed harmony into people’s lives. Also thanks to Japan, its tea and bonsai.
