Tokyo Int’l Film Festival’s best actress award and the special jury prize went to the film Sami Blood, directed by Amanda Kernell. It is a Danish/Norwegian/Swedish film by Amanda Kernell depicting a life of strong-willed Sami girl who lived against the social prejudices of the 1930s. Born in Umea, Kernell herself has Sami roots. The Sami culture played an important role in European Capital of Culture Umea2014.
