The Romanian City, Timișoara gained the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2021! For Romania, it is the first time to hold the ECoC in thirteen years since Sibiu was the host city in 2007. To be European Capital of Culture in 2021, fourteen domestic cities had competed, and Timișoara was officially awarded the title among four short-listed cities after a final selection round!
