It is announced that the first 21 artists of the 21st Biennale of Sydney has been chosen. Rika Noguchi, a photographer living and based in Okinawa, is included as one of the selected artists. They include internationally renowned Asian artists such as Ai Weiwei (China) as well French artist Laurent Grasso. Mami Kataoka, the Tokyo-based artistic director of the 21st Biennale of Sydney, talks about Noguchi’s photography, saying, “They are industrial but also very poetic.” Next week, Mami is taking Rika and other three international artists to Uluru and Alice Springs for inspiration.
