Andrew Phelps is an American photographer who has been living in Europe and is now based in Salzburg, where he works as a photographer, teacher and curator. He says “Who and what I DON’T photograph … is important.” In 2009, he had stayed at several cities including Shibata City taking pictures of landscapes and people of Niigata aiming to document the gap titled “NOT NIIGATA.” The exhibition is supported by Shibata photo project, the event held in every autumn with the help of local people and community.
