Biennale of Sydney appointed Mami Kataoka, the chief curator of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo,  as its first artistic director from Asia. She currently serves as a board member of CIMAM (Int’l Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art), and  representatives of European Capitals of Culture enjoyed the exchanging thoughts with her when they visited Japan. Japanese curators played a significant role this year especially in Valletta and Wroclaw. Yuko Hasegawa, Yukiko Shikata, Fumihiko Sumitomo, Koyo Yamashita got involved in the projects and they brought fresh points of view and thoughts to think about today’s issue, art and common future together.
