Modern opera “Sleeping Beauty ~ House of the Sleeping Beauties ~” was performed at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (10th – 11^th of Dec.) as commemorations of the 55th anniversary of the opening of Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and the 150th anniversary of Japan and Belgium’s friendship. Inspired by Yasunari Kawabata’s novel “Sleeping Beauty,” this work was collaborated by Belgian production company and Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, and premiered in Belgium in 2009. Kaori Ito, a world famous contemporary dancer participated in European Capital of Culture Guimarães in 2012, appeared in a main role “sleeping beauty.”
