Designers have been selected for the ‘11 Fountains’ project as part of European Capital of Culture, Leeuwarden2018. This project is originally derived from traditional ice skating tour, ‘Elfstedentocht’ leading along all eleven beautiful and ancient cities of the province of Friesland. The 11 fountains designed by 11 international artists from Western countries, Asia, Africa and South America play roles in representing their artistic senses in each city and in revitalizing the Dutch traditions. Contemporary artist Mr. Shinji Ohmaki from Japan is one of the artists dedicated to this project will exhibit his work in IJlst.
