The International Youth in Concert has since 2004 continuously presented its musical performances together with a wide range of musicians, music groups and community figures in each year's European Capital of Culture and localities around Japan. As part of this festival the young leading Belgian classical guitarist Jan Depreter is to visit the cities of Miyazaki and Shibushi for concerts, lectures and associated activities. Since his first visit to Japan in 2005, Mr. Depreter has frequently visited Osaka, Wakayama and Kagoshima to conduct programs for young people. He has developed an especially close relationship with the Shibushi NPO Yacchiku Matsuyama-han, and the friendship of their exchanges has led to another visit to Japan this year. In Shibushi Depreter is to call on senior citizens' homes and join exchange programs with local primary and middle schools, and also conduct numerous programs that include mini-concerts for local residents.

This visit will be his first to Miyazaki, where he will participate in exchange programs with local guitar devotees and guitar clubs, and also conduct programs for local residents and other area people that include a concert for people in the livestock industry adversely affected by foot-and-mouth disease.
