International Youth in Concert / collaboration of music groups from Hungary, Ireland, Slovenia, Japan

Pecs2010 - European Capital of Culture

Tokorozawa Fény Children's Choir (Tokorozawa-city, Saitama pref.)

Matsuyama Kids in Chorus (Shibushi-city, Kagoshima pref.)

This year's International Music Festival of Youth, an event held annually since 2004, features a joint Japan-Hungary-Ireland-Slovenia performance.
Choral music is so deeply rooted in Hungary that the country is reckoned by some a shrine of the form, and many choral groups remain active there to this day. Participants in this joint performance are the Bela Bartok Girls Choir, which has been active in Pécs since 1973; the Matsuyama Kids in Chorus and Tokorozawa Fény Children's Choir from Japan; the Cork International Girls Choir from Ireland; and the Carmina Slovenica Choir from the 2012 European Capital of Culture Maribor in Slovenia, which performs throughout the world.
As well as their performance, we hope that joint workshops, exchange activities and local school visits will form new experiences for the children from all countries involved and help foster friendship among them. We hope also that activities contributing to the development of these 21st-century citizens will prosper as independent community programs and gradually spread their sincere ties across borders.
