Think of the future of Japan and Europe International Symposium
"Europe on its way to unity: From Richard-Coudenhove-Kalergi's Pan-European vision to the Treaty of Athens"
@

Reviewing the life of Count Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi, author of@"Pan-Europa", and the pan-European thinking that he advocated, this symposium also considered the future relationship between Japan and an expanding European Union. 2003 is the 80th anniversary of Count Coudenhove-Kalergi's publication of "Pan-Europa" in Vienna. 2004 will set new challenges for the EU with the addition of ten new member nations.
Taking a fresh look at the "greater Europe" thinking of Count Coudenhove-Kalergi, whose mother Countess Mitsuko was Japanese and who had a deep relationship with Japan, the symposium also address the significance of EU expansion, the challenges awaiting the EU in future and the future relationship between Japan and the EU.
