Following on an invitation by the Steiermarkische cultural promotion foundation of Austria, the Kanazawa Butoh Kan participated in the international dance festival in Graz. The performance and workshop were part of Cultural Capital of Europe 2003. Locally, this year's performance was a major draw. Some of the hopeful audience had to watch a video feed, and others were observed to give up and go home for lack of available seating. Results expected from this project include the spread of butoh in Graz and stronger ties between Kanazawa Butoh Kan and the artists and arts promoting foundations in the city.

Venue: Kunstuniversitat Graz
Participants : 32
Content: Learning the basics required in dance construction. Attendees created a short work of fifteen minutes from the dance instructions acquired in the workshop that was then performed before an audience of 200 on the final day.
