MIMITOME is a joint production by SuperDeluxe of Roppongi in Tokyo and Tou Scene of Cultural Capital of Europe Stavanger. The project involves calling on artists from both Japan and Norway to engage in collaborations and present the contemporary art scenes of the two countries.
SuperDeluxe uses a multipurpose space along the avenue Roppongi-dori in Tokyo, and Tou Scene a refurbished old factory in the former industrial zone in the east of Stavanger. Both groups support the activity of independent artists, encourage artistic expression across genres and platforms, and contribute to the generation of avant-garde artistic work including music, sound art, live visual art, performance and video. For the first effort this year exciting, trans-genre contemporary artists from Japan will assemble at Tou Scene for exhibitions and live performances, to be followed in 2009 with the invitation to Tokyo of Norwegian artists.
