| In addition to lectures on their work by photographers showing in this exhibit, this event will also feature an introduction to the show by curator Mikiko Kikuta, who oversaw planning of the exhibit, together with anecdotes about bringing it all together to portray the appeal of a curator's work in the trenches. Attendees will learn how to get 100 times the pleasure from this exhibition of photography. | |||

| Where:Assembly in forecourt of Kagoshima City Museum of Art (1st floor entranceway in case of rain), farewells at Kagoshima Kenmin Koryu Center ※This event is followed in the afternoon by a symposium. All are encouraged to attend. What to bring:Digital camera, drinking water. Dress for ease of movement. |

| The assembly will depart from the museum and, moving through Terukuni Jinja and climbing Shiroyama, take part in a workshop as Stephen Gill points out interesting aspects of the landscape that occur to his fresh eye. The views of Kagoshima that we see day in and day out are so familiar to us that they conceal much charm that we tend to overlook. Walk through the town with Stephen Gill to observe it through your finder and find places of new interest. | |||

| While displaying their work depicting Kagoshima, the photographers will discuss what drew their eyes, why it appealed to them, their feelings about the place. The views and impressions of the audience will contribute to discussion delving more deeply into the identity of Kagoshima and revealing its predicaments and appeal overlooked by its own residents due to their very familiarity with the town. | |||

| Mikiko Kikuta, artistic director for the European Eyes on Japan photography project, will discuss the work of the three photographers on show. She oversaw the selection of the photographers, their shooting and the production process and brought their work together for this exhibit. Her talk is sure to open doors to a deeper understanding of what it shows us. | |||
