Cuny Janssen

Born Nijmegen, the Netherlands, 1975. Currently resident in Amsterdam.
After taking a degree in art in Utrecht, she vigorously pursued his work grounded in original themes on such grants as obtained from the Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture (disbursed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science). The 2004 publication of her photo collection "Portrait/Landscape" attracted attention with its images of the children and scenery of Macedonia. She has since continued to produce such collections at a pace of one per year and shows work in numerous solo and group exhibitions around Europe.
Janssen's eye turns always to children and landscapes. To date, she has worked in a wide range of countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, India, Iran and South Africa. What she seeks to depict are not the differences arising from the geographical conditions, culture and history of these places, but the truth that people are universally equal. Whether in villages scarred by conflict or in the great cities of the developed world, the blessed presence of living in the now and precious glimmers of life appear in the the forms of the children who look straight into her camera.
