About C.A.R.K

The objectives of this program are the spread and development of contemporary art in Japan at the popular level. The program consists of inviting young authors of contemporary art to university institutions in Japan from the countries of Asia and of the West that are advanced practitioners of artist-in-residence programs to conduct creative artistic activities during their stay and artistic exchange with civil society in an intimate relationship with local communities. The program also provides an avenue for Japanese artists to participate in the EU Cultural Capital of Europe by way of a residence program as an initiative for the presentation of contemporary Japanese art. The program is intended to continue beyond 2005 with the goals of further promoting and spreading contemporary art.
