Adrian Petcu
Adrian Petcu (violin)
 
After graduating from the Music Lyceum in Bucharest, joined the Strings Department at the Cork Institute of Technology School of Music. While serving as department head for 20 years, Petcu remained active as an orchestral conductor. Invited to the Barcelona Music Festival in 1991 and 1995, Petcu also taught a masterclass in Milan in the summer of 1999. He holds concerts of chamber music frequently throughout the year. This year he will again teach a masterclass in Europe immediately after the conclusion of his Japan performances.


Jan Cap
Jan Cap (piano)
 
Graduated from the Prague Conservatoire in the Czech Republic. After taking second place in the international concours Prague Spring, Cáp attended the Moscow Music Academy on a national scholarship and subsequently debuted as a soloist in London. While busy both performing and teaching the younger generation, he regularly appears at Czech music festivals and has now served as head of the Keyboard Department at the Cork Institute of Technology School of Music for 25 years. He now performs frequently in piano trio and other settings, particularly in the United States and Europe.


Iosef Calef
Iosef Calef (cello)
 
Native of Romania. While a member of the Bucharest Philharmonic, Calef also sports a spectacular performing record in Europe with the Pro Alte Piano Trio. Since 1987 he has served as director and conductor of a chamber music ensemble while also teaching music at Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music & Drama. A member of the Crawford Piano Trio since its formation, Calef has come to love Japanese food since first visiting Japan in 1997.


Eimear Collins
Eimear Collins (soprano)
 
Born Belfast, Northern Ireland. Left the United Kingdom upon her fatherfs employment as a professor at Cork University and, performing as a soloist with various groups at local churches and other venues from around 1997, shortly became a recognized soprano. On commencing studies at the Cork Institute of Technology School of Music, she also committed one year to studies at the Royal Opera House in London and is now engaged in a thoroughgoing study of music at University College Cork. Already she is engaged as an assistant director at the English National Opera and has formed a group of his own, with which she also performs. The strengths in her repertoire include The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute. As an aside, her interest in Japan stems from her elder brotherfs internship with NHK in Washington, D.C.


Fiona Kelly
Fiona Kelly (flute)
 
Born Cork, Ireland. Educated at the Cork School of Music (currently the music school attached to the Cork Institute of Technology) from childhood and took elementary lessons in flute from her mother, a professor in the Flute Department. Since the age of 14 in 2000 Kelly has taken first prize in flute and other categories in national competitions, in 2004 took first prize for concerto in major competitions in Dublin and Belfast, and this year took first prize in the woodwinds category, winning a prize of 3,000 euros. In September 2005 she enters Trinity College of Music in London on a scholarship. In addition to excelling with such pieces as Carmen Fantasy, she boasts a wide repertoire that includes traditional songs. As first flute in Irelandfs youth orchestra, she travels and performs throughout Europe and in summer 2005 goes to the Czech Republic. Her aunt having accompanied the Irish President to Japan in March as a presidential advisor, she is also looking forward to visiting Japan.


Kikue Yamada (announcer)
 
Born Hokkaido. Worked as an instructor in the Yamaha Electone for some ten years, initially while a student at Sophia University. Moved to Cork, Ireland with her husband on his job relocation. While resident in Cork, she took a degree in piano instruction from the Cork School of Music and has worked an instructor for four years. After two years in London, Yamada moved in 1997 to the state of Tennessee in the United States, again accompanying her husband on his job relocation. As chair of KM Friendship Ireland, a volunteer organization for international exchange programs, she organized gGift of Music from Irelandh concert tours by the Crawford Piano Trio and Friends in 1997 and 1999, and both the one-week Ireland Fair at Tokyo Gate City Osaki in 2002 and the attendant concert tour were a great success. She has also worked to present Japanese culture to audiences overseas. She currently serves as managing executive of a supplementary education school while as teaching piano in Tennessee.
