in Yacchiku Matsuyama, in Wakayama

Music Activities for Community Youth

The Yacchiku Matsuyamahan organization of Matsuyama city, Kagoshima, and the Wakayama Arts and Culture Support Society (waccs) NPO in Wakayama welcomed the world-renowned Belgian classical guitarist Jan Depereter to concerts for their respective local communities. Mr. Depereter was visiting Japan to take part in a guitar concours in Tokyo and kindly slotted these performances into openings in his schedule. The audience responded to the brilliant performances with many resounding exclamations of how moving it was.

In Matsuyama Mr. Depereter also offered a seminar for middle school students. The town also hosted the Cantate Domino choir from Belgium to a music festival in July 2005, and we are confident that their ties with and understanding of Belgium are growing stronger through music.
